| Millie
is listed on the 2002 Top Ten Breed leader list ranking #9 for butterfat
production. Her record is
even more impressive as it was made as a first freshening yearling who
wasn’t even milked for 305 days. Her record was 1-00 275 2770 3.9%BF
108 3.0%P 84. |
|
Perhaps
the best thing about Millie’s exceptional production was she freshened
in July at exactly one year old and peaked slowly with her high test
being 12.8 lbs on February 16, 2002. Remember this is a yearling doe that milked 12.8 pounds in a
bitter cold Northern Utah winter. |
| The
milk test was actually during the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics,
so Millie won the gold medal in Salt Lake City as far as we are
concerned. What a great doe
she has been for our Utah dairy. It
is really nice to have winter milk supplied Millie’s way. Why milk more goats in the barn at below zero temperatures when
you can just milk a few yearlings like Millie to get the winter milk you
need? |
| We
would love to fill our barn with yearlings that have DHIA tests like
Millie, 4.9, 10.6, 10.9, 10.4, 10.1, 12.8 and 9.3. We didn’t even know if we were going to be able to dry her up
in time for her to have a dry period, but she dried right up and
finished her 2nd lactation with even more milk: 1-09 3180
3.6%BF 114BF 3.0%P 95P. |

| Millie
is bred to Shadow for June 13th kids, priced at $200. |
