Cage Free Eggs

Since 1880 we have been raising chickens and producing eggs the "Old Fashioned Way". Our chicken coops were built and in operation LONG BEFORE eggs farms decided it was a good idea to confined 4 or more laying hens to a small cage, stacked several cage levels high, inside a building where the chickens will never see the natural light of day. Caged Chickens
These huge factory farms produce inexpensive eggs but many question the quality of life of the hens inside those cages.
Our chickens enjoy life as chickens where they are FREE OF CAGES. Our chickens scratch with their legs to find bits of food, lay eggs in straw lined nesting boxes, enjoy taking dust bathes, enjoy sunning themselves in the NATURAL TRUE sunlight, flap their wings whenever they please, and fly up to sleep on Roosts EVERY night.
We even allow some hens to sit on eggs and raise clutches of chicks the old fashioned way. These hens are broody hens that enjoy having a brood of chicks to raise.
It is MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE to raise chickens this way, but it is MUCH MORE HUMANE and we feel the quality of the eggs is better. The yolks are a darker color than the factory farm eggs and have a delicious taste. We hope you will try some of our "Farm Fresh Cage Free Eggs".

Since we DON'T force molt any of our chickens by STARVING our chickens of food and water like some commercial flocks do, our supply is determined by natural molting patterns of our hens.  These natural molting patterns are mostly determined by the amount of daylight.  Sometimes eggs are not available.

As our goat dairy has grown and we have developed new goat milk products we have found it necessary to focus our time and energy on our goats. We have not been able to expand our egg production as we originally planned.

We have a very limited supply of eggs. They are available only from our farm store. The demand is so much greater than the supply that we can not reserve eggs or take orders. They are available on a first come first serve only basis! (It is like winning the lottery if you happen to be here when eggs are available.) We do not have a schedule for when we put the eggs in the store for sale. We schedule the things we do that are related to our goat milk products and take care of the chickens and eggs when we can. We would not advise any one to make a special trip to our farm to purchase eggs. The price of eggs is $4.00 per dozen.
